Heya! We can handwave the mugging. I was thinking she was grabbed pretty hard, she would have fought back as much as she could. I can picture her having dark bruising on her wrists and maybe even a black eye or something like that when her attacker tried to move her off the jogging path before Clint leap to her rescue. Since Reyes is a 'friend' of Clint's, he would have 'escaped', right?
The surprise of it, yeah, Jane would have been shaking and rambling quite a bit, clinging to Clint's arm for the 'demonstration' aspects as they headed across to the bar. I suspect Jane was shaking/trembling for most of the night while they talked at the bar. Clint puts her in a cab to head home? So they aren't seen going back to the same place?
How about Clint joins her jogging? I.e, he's looking out for her actively and is seen doing that? We could toss up a jogging thread tomorrow, giving them talk time and 'showing off for HYDRA' time as well.?
Spiffy. Clint would've probably set it up to look like he was headed to the bar where they end up and interrupted by accident. All very convenient. He would've had to let Reyes go, but he would've roughed him up a bit in the process, because that's all super manly. Heh.
They would've gotten a drink, he would've let her cling and would've been pretty attentive. Gruff, but that's kind of Clint in general in public. He's a lot more taciturn than he appears back at the Tower. And he would've definitely put her in a cab, made a show of paying the guy and giving instructions to watch her into a building, and then probably would've gone back to the bar for a while.
Jogging is a good angle. He could set up to meet her not too far from the Tower daily, they could circle. Get coffee or something on some days, prolong the time out.
Right, Jane would have been a little clingy, mostly chatty/rambling since that's her fall back when she's nervous. So, she wouldn't have been hanging all over Clint, but kept touching his hand, or his arm reflexively while they drank.
I like that. Jogging, then coffee, then maybe another cab with Clint being obvious about her safety. She'll be lots of big smiles and laughs.
